What Cameron should do now

Here at Coffee House we are of the view that Cameron should call for the Speaker to go. But Cameron seems steadfast in his view that it is not constitutionally proper for him to do so. But there is surely nothing to prevent him from urging the government to allow time for the Carswell motion to be debated?

The Commons simply cannot go on like this. The painful scenes we just witnessed brought Parliament even further into disrepute. There needs to be an urgent fix found. It is imperative that it is made clear to Martin that he can resign now and leave with a modicum of dignity, or he will be forced from the chair. Surely, even his supporters realise that his authority is gone and that the Commons needs a fresh start.
