No doubt there will be plenty of black humour at this year’s Tory party Conference — not least because it will be a kind of counter-cultural festival, taking place in the teeth of the Establishment’s attempts to cancel it. Who knew we were the real hippies? It’ll be like Woodstock for the over-65s.
But if you want a real, proper laugh I recommend Comedy Unleashed, taking place at Manchester’s Comedy Store on Monday night. The headliner is Andrew Doyle, the creator of Titania McGrath, a parody of privately-educated ‘woke’ women that was recently banned on Twitter. But there will be plenty of other politically incorrect comedians on stage too, including Will Franken, whose Greta Thunberg trans counselling sketch you can see here.
This comedy show is an event that usually takes place on the first Tuesday of every month in the back of a pub in Bethnal Green and has become a rallying point for those who want to push back against the Maoist culture of intolerance, whether liberals or conservatives.
