Bad night out, good night out

Thursday, 3rd July 2008

By the time I got to the Arts Theatre last night, the remains of the short-lived mega-flop musical "All Bob's Women" had been carted off to the incinerator. Stage blogger Mark Shenton rounds up some of the worst reviews, including a gem from the Telegraph's Charlie Spencer:

I have been racking my brains trying to remember a worse night in the theatre, but nothing comes to mind. "Which Witch"? "The Man in The Iron Mask"? "Bernadette"? All unfairly traduced masterpieces in comparison with this rancid bilge-water.

It sounds so awful I almost wish I'd been there. All I will add is that the other show at the venue, "Jay Johnson: The Two and Only" is an absolute delight. All you ever wanted to know about the much misunderstood art of ventriloquism.
